Built for Colorado’s Climate and Altitude

Colorado is hard on heating and cooling equipment. Altitude, cold snaps, and big daily temperature swings all affect how hydronic systems perform, and a system set up for sea level won’t run the same here.

Altitude changes how boilers burn. Thinner air at elevation means less oxygen for combustion. Equipment in Denver at 5,280 feet, Vail at around 8,150 feet, or Breckenridge at nearly 9,600 feet needs proper high-altitude setup and combustion tuning to run safely and efficiently. We adjust and test equipment for the elevation it actually operates at.

Freeze protection matters. A failed boiler in a January cold snap can freeze pipes and coils within hours, especially in vacant units or second homes. We check glycol levels, freeze protection, and system controls so a breakdown doesn’t turn into water damage.

Temperature swings strain equipment. Colorado can swing 30 degrees or more in a single day, so systems cycle more often. Regular maintenance keeps controls, pumps, and valves keeping up with those changes.

Service Planned Around Colorado’s Seasons

In Colorado’s resort towns, timing is everything. We schedule work around your busy seasons so equipment is ready before guests arrive.

  • Late summer and fall: Boiler startups, inspections, and repairs before ski season.
  • Winter: Emergency repair and support during peak occupancy, when heating can’t go down.
  • Spring mud season: The best window for major repairs, replacements, and upgrades while properties are quieter.
  • Late spring and summer: Chiller startups and cooling system maintenance before summer visitors arrive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you serve mountain towns that aren’t listed?
Often, yes. Contact us with your property’s location and we’ll confirm. We are constantly adding new locations.
Do you offer new construction HVAC in mountain resort towns?
Yes. New construction HVAC is available anywhere in Colorado.
Can you schedule maintenance around ski season or peak occupancy?
Yes. We plan preventive maintenance around your property’s busy and slow seasons.
How does high altitude affect a boiler or furnace?
Air is thinner at elevation, so there is less oxygen for combustion. Gas-fired equipment often needs to be adjusted or fitted with a high-altitude kit to burn cleanly and safely. Without that adjustment, the system can run less efficiently and produce more carbon monoxide. We check combustion and adjust equipment for your elevation during service.
Does altitude affect air conditioning and chillers?
Yes. Air-cooled equipment rejects heat less effectively in thin air, so it can lose capacity as elevation rises. Proper sizing, airflow, and regular cleaning of coils help keep it performing well in the mountains.
Why does Colorado’s dry air matter for HVAC?
Dry air can cause static electricity, dry out wood and finishes, and increase evaporation from humidifiers. It can also affect how quickly heating systems feel comfortable. We can help you choose humidification or ventilation options that suit your home.
How does Colorado’s sun affect outdoor equipment?
Strong UV exposure and large temperature swings can wear out outdoor equipment, insulation, and exposed piping faster than in milder climates. Shade, protective covers, and regular inspections can extend equipment life.
